Abstract

Dust is removed from gas, by passage through a double walled fabric filter, which is cleaned by blowing back into the gap sepg. the walls, so as to collapse the inner filter compartment. The filter may comprise an outer, e.g. cylindrical, semi-rigid fibrous element (of permeability pref. about 12 ASTM units) and an inner flexible, felt element, closed at the top (of permeability pref. about 60 ASTM units). A separate blower and extractor may be used, or a single reversible fan with valves, to direct gas flow as required, and several double filters may be enclosed in one chamber, at the bottom of which is a hopper to collect dust, for discharge through a rotary valve.
