Abstract

1394877 Load handling pallet BAMBERGERSLtd 3 Aug 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 38213/72 Heading B8H A flexible envelope upon which a load to be lifted may be stacked and into which a lifting element may be inserted by utilizing compressed air has a mouth 4 surrounded by a tubular collar 8, the interior of which is in communication with the interior of the envelope so that it becomes inflated when air is directed into the envelope and forms a seal against the lifting element. A stiffening element 9 is provided in at least the upper edge of the collar and may be formed of a pair of spaced apart members or a single member (12) Fig. 2 (not shown) with a recess 10 formed in one side to facilitate the initial ingress of air into the envelope. The collar may be formed as an inwardly turned hem connected by a discontinuous seal to proprovide pockets in communication with the interior of the envelope or by a separate tubular torroid secured to the envelope, the torroid having apertures therein to communicate with the interior of the envelope. The envelope may be paper or plastics and the stiffner may be formed of cardboard.
