1394424 Powder compacting apparatus WOLVERINE-PENTRONIX Inc 1 March 1974 9286/74 Heading B5A Articles are compacted from powder in a die 22 by a punch 28 which compresses the powder against the lower surface of a plate 33 forming part of an assembly 32 displaceable arcuately over a die plate 12. A core rod 29 may be provided to produce an apertured article. The die plate has two parallel rows of dies and punches and each die is fed with powder by corresponding rows of powder dispensers 36 brought into coincidence with the dies by movement of the assembly 32. Following compaction the assembly is moved to the position of Fig. 2 whereby each die is brought into communication with a pick-up head 41 in the plate 33 which receives the compacted article 42 ejected by the punch. Each head 41 is connected via passages 44, 45 and a flexible conduit 48 to an aspirator 50 whereby the articles are drawn from the head through the passages and aspirator to a receptacle 66. The aspirator includes a bore 54, supplied with pressure fluid from a source 70, from which leads passages 62, one for each die, into which a Venturi pipe 58 extends.
