1394244 Beta-diketone solutions CENTRO SPERIMENTALE METALLURGICO SpA 12 July 1972 [31 July 1971] 32470/72 Heading C2C A composition for the superficial stabilization of chromium ions in compound chromium oxide based coatings comprises an aqueous solution or dispersion with a concentration varying in the range from 0À1 to 10% by weight of a betadiketone having the tautomeric forms and R<SP>1</SP>C(OH)=CH-COR where R is a monovalent radical derived from an aromatic compound which may be condensed or not and which may contain heteroatoms or not; R<SP>1</SP> is a monovalent group capable of impoverishing the electronic density of the enolic group by inductive effect. In examples aqueous compositions comprising 2-thenoyl-trifluoroacetone and 2-furoyl trifluoroacetone are employed in the treatment of chromium-chromium oxide coatings.
