Abstract
139,371. Granger, W. May 22, 1919. Cleaning internally, non-rotary appliances for. -A device for clearing obstructions from sewers, especially applicable to brewery sewers, is composed of a carriage as 4, Fig. 2, fitted at its front end with a haulage clip 5 which is preferably swivelled, and with guide-rolls 7 mounted in a pivoted standard 6. The rear of the carriage 4 is also fitted with a haulage clip 5, and with pivoted arms 12 fitted with guide wheels or rollers 13, which engage the lower and other parts such as the sides of the sewer. Between the rollers 7, 13 are arranged a number of cutters 9, 9<a> which remove the incrustation from the sewers. These cutters are preferably of arrow-shape, and are adjustably secured to arms as 10, carried by or adjustably secured in a boss 11 on the carriage 4. The lowest cutter is preferably the strongest and is arranged forward of the others. The pointed cutters and the arms carrying the rollers are so pivoted or jointed that they will not turn back further than a right-angle with the haulage line of the carriage, and when the device is drawn forwards the cutters will operate, and when drawn backwards this will partially close, and the device run back freely. The number and position of the cutters and guide-rollers, and also the shape of the cutters may be varied.
