Abstract

380,916. Tobacco-pipe cleaners. BRAMPTON, F. W., Dunstan House, Coventry Road, Elmdon, Warwickshire. Aug. 22, 1931, No. 23653. [Class 130.] A device for cleaning the bowls of tobacco pipes comprises a plurality of blades in each of which the edge of the operative portion is shaped to correspond substantially with the contour of the inner wall of a pipe, and the blades have operative portions of different sizes and they are so connected together that each blade can be moved into or out of position for use. Three or more blades may be pivoted on a solid or tubular rivet 6 with spring washers interposed between the blades. The opposite edges of the operative ends 5 of the blades are formed as shearing edges by grinding to an angle of about 70-80‹, the two edges on a blade being disposed in opposite directions. The shanks of the blades may be of constant width with the operative portions formed as shouldered enlargements. In use, the blades are disposed as shown so that two of them constitute a handle. According to the Provisional Specifications, the device may comprise two blades pivoted together.
