1393548 Typewriters J GREMILLET 19 June 1972 [21 June 1971] 28546/72 Heading B6F A syllabic keyboard comprises: keys which can be simultaneously depressed; keys, such as MENT, which control simultaneously several characters belonging to groups which each correspond to a distinct printing point; keys, such as PE, ME, PO, MO, which each control simultaneously a character of a first group and a character of a secondgroup, the keys being disposed in a rectangular matrix in several rows of which the two keys, such as A III , adjacent a central key E II , control a character of a third group, two space keys Esp whose widths are about two column widths and whose lengths are about three row widths, and three thumboperated keys, such as N IV , which are elongate in the direction of a row of the matrix, situated in each of three rows, one set of three keys being situated between the space keys and one set of three keys being to each side of the space keys.
