Abstract
1371405 Printers HONEYWELL INFORMATION SYSTEMS Inc 11 Feb 1972 [24 May 1971] 6549/72 Heading G4H In an impact printer, a line of characters to be printed is supplied to a first shift register from which they are reoirculated back into the first register via a second shift register, once for each possible type character as that character on a print drum approaches a row of print hammers spaced along the line, each character in the second shift register being compared with a count representing the drum position. Equality sets a flip-flop corresponding to the position in the line as indicated by a clock-driven counter. Each flip-flop controls a respective hammer.
