Abstract

139,322. Macluskie, J. March 24, 1919. Blowing.-Relates to a mould for blowing bentnecked bottles. The body part a is of the usual two-part hinged type and closes upon a disk 6 projecting from the base-plate 1. The neck f<1> cf the bottle is formed partly by the upper part i of the body mould a and partly by a top segment c, which is hinged at 5 to one of the body segments a. The gather is first placed in the mould a and partly blown, the blowpipe B being then drawn out and the top segment c closed. In a modification, for machine use, the segment c is in three parts hinged together so as to form a neck mould, which is first inverted and used in conjunction with a parison mould to form a blank. The neck mould is then turned over and placed on the blowing mould a and the bottle completed. The neck is afterwards ground off as usual.
