Abstract

1393057 Circlips KEI ANDO WAI GIKEN KK 12 Sept 1973 42831/73 Heading F2H A snap ring comprises an open ring 1A having flat base surfaces 3a, 3A at the adjacent free ends of the ring, with a gap 2A between the free ends, and parts 4A cut out and raised from the base surfaces and being curved to approximately circular arcs, so that hook parts are formed between the parts 4A and the base surfaces 3a, 3A for receiving the nipples of a snap ring plier. The parts 4A comprise two arcuate portions 6, 7 of opposite curvature, and their tips 8 are flattened to reduce the tip thickness relative to that of the rest of the parts. The gap between the outer pair of base surfaces 3a is smaller than the gap between the inner pair 3A. The ring may be, as shown, for use with a shaft, or may have the base surfaces radially inwards of the ring periphery (Fig. 1B, not shown), for use in a hole.
