Abstract

1392373 Laminates OBERLAUSITZER TEXTILBETRIEBE VEB 14 July 1972 33063/72 Heading B5N [Also in Division D1] A composite textile material is produced by stitching a layer consisting of threads or fibres of a fibre fleece which extend substantially transversely in relation to the longitudinal direction of the layer, on to a previously manufactured base layer, e.g. a woven or knitted fabric or fibre sheet, by means of longitudinally extending parallel chain stitch seams using a single- or multi-thread stitching material consisting of fibre material components of which at least one has a lower softening range than the other fibre component or components used, and subjecting the composite material so produced to a heat treatment in which only the fibre component with the lower softening range is rendered heatsealable and adheres to the fibres or threads in contact with it. Stitching materials comprising two-component fibre materials of the side-onside, core-sheath or matrix fibril types may be used. The stitching material may comprise a mixture of polypropylene and polyester fibres, a mixture of fibres of vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate or vinylidene chloride copolymer and viscose rayon, cotton or polyester fibres or a mixture of polyethylene terephthalate or polyamide and polyolefin fibres. Heat shrinkable threads and texturized filaments may also be used. Heating may be effected with infra-red radiation or hot air. Pile fabrics may be produced by cutting the fibre layer between the joining seams.
