Abstract

1391517 Hydrodynamic brakes DAIMLER BENZ AG 27 June 1972 [10 July 1971] 30095/72 Heading F2E In a hydrodynamic braking arrangement having a blade 11 rotating with a vehicle drive shaft 10 and a stationary blade 13, the working circuit is fed with fluid from a reservoir 15 the volume of which does not exceed that of the working chamber of the hydrodynamic brake, the reservoir being connected via a non-return valve 25 to a reservoir tank. The reservoir 15 is operated by a fluid supplied from a pedal actuated valve 17 the working fluid passing through a cooler 21 and one-wave valve 22 into the brake 12. A seal 14 is provided for the shaft 10 and in front of the seal a space 26 leads via a passage 27 to a part of the working circuit which is not under pressure during operation thereby relieving the seal 14 of pressure. A branch 28 leads to an outlet 29 above the fluid level in the reserve tank 23 which tops up the reservoir 15 through the non-return valve 25 if leakage occurs.
