Abstract

[Also in Division F2] In an hydrodynamic brake 7 for vehicles (Division F2), a brake rotor 9 is driven through gearing 4, 5 from an axle 1 to be braked and an air-cooler heat exchanger 19 is provided with a liquid inlet 22 connected to the outer periphery of the working chamber of the brake 7 and an outlet 23 connected to a sump from which the working chamber is filled. A fan rotor 16 is adapted to be driven by a fluid clutch 12 through the filling device 24 which is operated when a brake pedal 25 is actuated. The fluid clutch is provided with a regulating device 18, in the form of an excess pressure valve, to limit the speed of the fan rotor 16 by varying the filling and/or pressure in the clutch.
