Abstract

1,177,783. Hydraulic retarder. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. 24 Jan., 1967 [25 Jan., 1966], No. 3486/67. Heading F2E. [Also in Division F1] A motor vehicle has a transmission brake, disposed between a change speed installation and a wheel axle, comprising a regulable output positive displacement pump (see Division F1), the output of which is adjustable independently of the speed of rotation of the axle. The pump (see Division F1) comprises a rotor 5, vanes 22, 23, and a rotatable outer ring 7 mounted in bearings 13 within an adjusting ring 8 rockable about a fixed bolt 10, to vary the delivery, by a piston mechanism 11 having an adjustable piston-rod and which receives actuating pressure when a valve 34 is manually actuated. The delivery from the pump is connected through a pressure-operated valve 38 to pass through throttling devices and a cooler 47. Under excessive delivery pressure conditions the delivery and supply chambers 39, 40 are connected by a by-pass passage and a valve 36 may operate to lower the piston 14 and reduce the output.
