Abstract

1391400 Forming fluid passageways in glass TECHNICON INSTRUMENTS CORP 2 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 15694/73 Heading C1M A glass article having fluid passageways therein is produced by providing at least two sections of metal tubing 43, 46 having a higher melting temperature than the glass and a similar expansion coefficient; forming the tubing into the configuation required for the passageway; sandwiching the tubing between two glass blocks 36, 38; heating the resulting assembly to encapsulate the tubing 42, 46; and removing the tubing, preferably by etching. The tubing and thus the passageway may have a bent or helical portion. The tubing is preferably formed from nickel/cobalt/iron alloy.
