Abstract
1389571 Electric couplings TECHNIX (PTY) Ltd and D L RISHWORTH 14 March 1972 [16 March 1971] 11865/72 Heading H2E A terminal or jointing sleeve comprises a shank 10, tapered to be wider at the free end 21 than the neck end 18, with slots 19 cut into it to leave sharp edges 20. In use, the shank is crimped round the end of an insulated or uninsulated cable 26, the sharp edges 20 pierce the insulation and the wire extrudes through the slots 18 to make a good electrical contact. Swages 24, extending radially inwardly, may be punched at the free end 21 to anchor the cable. Edges 12 and 14 may be sharpened and edge 14 curled inwardly to penetrate the insulation (see Fig. 4, not shown). A forming die is also described.
