1389431 Container traffic container transfer JOSEF HAAMANN FREUDENBERGER WINDEN-UND HEBEZEUGFABRIK 7 July 1972 [15 Dec 1971] 31978/72 Heading B8Q [Also in Division E2] A container 20 is raised and lowered by means of four lifting devices (one of which is shown) which are each located at one corner of the container and each comprises an hydraulic ram 1 mounted on a base-plate 21, first and second struts 70, 60 having swivelling fastening bolts 7.2, 6.2 respectively at one end thereof for engagement in corresponding recesses 20.2, 20.1 at the top and bottom respectively of the container 20, the first strut 70 being articulated by a pin 70.2 to the second strut 60 which in turn is pivotally attached to the end link 5À2 of a chain 5 which extends about a chain roller 1.4 mounted on the lifting head 1À2 of the ram 1, the other end of the chain 5 being attached to the base-plate 21 by means of a screw shackle 5.4. In operation of the device, the bolt 6.2 of the strut 60 is inserted into and fastened in the container recess 20.1 by means of a nut 60.3 on the rear of the bolt, and then the strut 70 is moved away from the ram 1 to its position shown, by means of a rack 11.6 which can be extended and retracted by means of a crank 11.7, the strut 70 being in rolling engagement with rollers 11.9 mounted in a cage 11.8 hinged to the outer end of the rack 11.6. The fastening bolt 7.2 is operated by means of a hand lever 70À7 which is connected to the bolt 7.2 by a linkage (70.8) disposed within the strut 70 which is hollow, Fig. 15 (not shown). By means of a hand lever 4 the base plate 21 and ram 1 can be raised relative to the ground engaging wheels shown to provide for movement of the device. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the first strut (7) is pivotally attached to the lower link of the chain (5), the second strut (6) being pivotally mounted on the first strut (7), and in another embodiment the first and second members (7, 6) and the chain (5) are all pivotally attached to a gusset plate (5.5), Fig. 6 (not shown). In a still further embodiment, Figs. 7, 8, 11 and 12 (not shown), instead of the rack 11.6 of Fig. 4, a stirrup (9) is mounted on the ram (1) which permits the strut (70) to be swung between inner and outer positions (Figs. 7, 8 respectively) relative to the ram (1), there being a spring mounted pin (9.2) which holds the strut (70) in its inner position.
