Description

(54) TRANSPORT VEHICLES (71) I, FRAU MARIANNE DEURINGER, of German Nationality, of Traminerweg Sb, D-8900 Augsburg 21, West Germany, do hereby declare the invention, for which I pray that a patent may be granted to me, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement:: The invention relates to a transport vehicle for prefabricated garages and the like, comprising a chassis, which is carried by the wheels and which can be supported on the ground at least at the end that is to the rear in the direction of travel, and comprising a lifting unit, which is slidable on the chassis, in the longitudinal direction thereof, between a receiving position and a transporting position and comprises a hydraulic power pack which is held on the chassis and is extendible vertically relative thereto and is in operative connection with the carrier arm engaging in the interior of the garage.
On known transport vehicles of this type, the carrier arm engages on the inside of the garage roof. The lifting movement is brought about by means of a hydraulic cylinder which is supported on an extension of the lifting unit base and whose piston rod acts on the carrier arm. In this constructional form, the point of application of the force required for lifting the garage lies behind the vehicle. In order to reduce the tilting moments resulting therefrom, this point of application for lifting the garage has been shifted to the vehicle end and there has been hinged to the carrier lever and an additional swivel lever, between whose end and the carrier lever end the hydraulic cylinder acts, with a drawing element in the shape of a chain or the like acting simultaneously on the end of the swivel lever (German Offenlegungsschrift Nos. 2,141,522 and 2,112,947).
It is furthermore known to attach to a vertical hydraulic power pack on the vehicle side a horizontal carrier arm which extends very far into the garage in the garage receiving position and carries at its end in the garage inside a hydraulic cylinder which is passed through a hole in the garage floor and is supported on the ground during the lifting operation (German Auslegeschrift No.
2,110,562).
The constructional expenditure required for these known transport vehicles is very great. While very large tilting moments have to be compensated for in the constructional forms described first, the last-described constructional form necessitates the formation of special holes in the garage floor.
The task underlying the invention consists in designing the transport vehicle of the kind mentioned at the beginning at a low constructional expenditure in such a way that it allows garages to be lifted and loaded in a simple manner without an exactly preset position between the vehicle and the garage being required. The same applies relative to the vehicle and the place of erection.
According to the present invention a transport vehicle for prefabricated garages and the like comprising a chassis, which is carried by the wheels and is supportable on the ground at least at the end that is to the rear in the direction of travel, and comprising a lifting unit which is slidable on the chassis, in the longitudinal direction thereof, between a receiving position and a transporting position and comprises a hydraulic power pack which is held on the chassis and is vertically extendible relative thereto and is in operative connection with the carrier arm engaging in the garage interior is characterised in that the lifting unit comprises a hinge arrangement of the carrier arm, which hinge arrangement is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle at a distance from the hydraulic power pack and is provided on the chassis above the garage standing plane and comprises a swivel shaft which is parallel to the wheel axle, and in that the piston rod of the hydraulic power pack acts on the carrier arm in an articulated connection, whose shaft is parallel to this swivel shaft, and in that there is provided at the carrier arm end a holding device which comprises an articulated shaft which is also parallel to the swivel shaft.
Such a transport vehicle has the advantage that the lifting unit is of very simple design and allows the garage to be lifted on the vehicle in a tilt-proof manner.
The articulated connection of the hydraulic power pack piston rod to the carrier arm is usually movable between positions above and below the hinge arrangement.
The carrier arm hinge arrangement advantageously consists of two vertical supports which are held on the chassis transversely to the vehicle longitudinal direction at a distance apart and which are connected by a transverse shaft, on which a carrier arm section is rotatably seated.
The carrier arm section on the carrier arm may be designed so that it can be swivelled about an axis that is vertical to the hinge arrangement axis.
The cylinder of the hydraulic power pack advantageously sits on a cross member which is held on the chassis by two vertical members which are arranged at a distance apart transversely to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
If the hydraulic power pack is arranged in front of the carrier arm hinge arrangement in the direction of travel, the carrier arm hinge arrangement is located in the direct vicinity of the open front end of the garage when the garage is lifted. The piston rod of the hydraulic power pack has to exert a pressure on the carrier arm end for lifting.
If the hydraulic power pack is arranged behind the carrier arm hinge arrangement in the direction of travel, the hydraulic power pack is located in the direct vicinity of the open front end of the garage when the garage is lifted. A tractive force has to be exerted on the piston rod for the lifting of the garage.
A stiffening of the entire lifting unit is brought about in that there act on the top of one of the elements consisting of the hydraulic power pack and the hinge, which element is arranged at the front in the direction of travel, two members which are at a distance from one another in the transverse direction of the vehicle and whose other end is held on the section of the other element on the chassis side. The points of application of these members may be hinged like all the other elements.
The carrier arm is advantageously rotatable about the cylinder axis on the articulated connection to the hydraulic power pack piston rod.
Furthermore, the carrier arm may comprise an end section which rotatably embraces a transverse rod of the holding device. The carrier arm end section associated with the holding device is advantageously held on the carrier arm so that it can be swivelled vertically to the transverse rod axis. Furthermore, the carrier arm end section may sit in the carrier arm in a hydraulically extendible and insertable manner.
In a preferred constructional form, there are provided on the holding device hydraulic power packs for the performance of positive swivel movements about the articulated shaft by the holding device and about the carrier arm end section swivel shaft that is vertical to the articulated shaft by the carrier arm.
Due to the fact that the connection of the carrier arm to the holding device and the lifting unit is movable in different planes in the afore-described manner, there is no need for the vehicle to be manoeuvred to an exactly preset position for the reception of the garage; on the contrary, after the garage has been slightly lifted in the position that is not aligned with the vehicle the garage can be brought to the desired aligned position, can be lifted and placed on the vehicle.
It is also possible for the entire lifting unit to be rotatably arranged on and relative to the chassis.
The distance in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle between the hinge arrangement of the carrier arm and the hydraulic power pack is determined by two quantities.
On the one hand, this distance must not be too large because usable vehicle length is lost thereby. On the other hand, this distance must not be too small in order to keep within reasonable limits the forces which have to be exerted on the carrier arm by the hydraulic power pack for the lifting of the garage.
garage. invention will be explained in more detail, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows a first constructional form of a transport vehicle with a garage placed thereon, Figure 2 shows the lifting unit of the transport vehicle shown in Figure 1 while lifting the garage, Figure 3 is a top view of the arrangement of Figure 2, Figure 4 shows a second constructional form of a transport vehicle in a view like that shown in Figure 1, Figure 5 shows a detail of the holding device in a lateral view, Figure 6 is a top view of the holding device of Figure 5.
The transport vehicle 1 shown in the figures has a chassis 3 which is mounted on wheels comprising wheel axles 2. A pair of telescopic legs 4 is arranged on the chassis 3 at the front and rear areas in the direction of the vehicle. The transport vehicle 1 is equipped for the reception and transportation of prefabricated garages 5. For the lifting and depositing of the garage 5, there is held on the transport vehicle 1 a lifting unit which is movable in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in guides 19 by means of rollers 20 by a mechanism (not shown).
The lifting device includes a hydraulic power pack 12, whose cylinder 13 sits on a transverse member 15 (Figure 3) which is held on the chassis 3 in a longitudinally displaceable manner via supporting members 16 which are arranged at a distance apart in the transverse direction of the vehicle. The piston of the cylinder 13 has a piston rod 14 which acts on a carrier arm 6 in an articulated connection 9, the shaft of the articulated connection 9 being substantially parallel to the wheel axle 2.
A hinge arrangement 11, whose shaft is substantially parallel to the wheel axle 2, is provided at a distance from the hydraulic power pack 12 in the vehicle longitudinal direction. The hinge arrangement 11 comprises two supports 18 which are held on the chassis 3 in a longitudinally displaceable manner and at a distance apart in the vehicle transverse direction and which are connected by a transverse shaft 36 (Figure 3), whose shaft corresponds to the hinge pin 11.
A carrier arm end section 7 acts on the transverse shaft 36.
At the end that is opposite to the lifting unit, the carrier arm 6 embraces, with its end section 8, the transverse rod 34 of the holding device 23. At the ends of the transverse rod 34, there are secured stirrups 35 to whose ends there are fastened ropes 21 which are anchored in corresponding holders on the garage floor. The end section 8 of the carrier arm 6 is mounted in the carrier arm 6 so as to be hydraulically extendible and retractable.
In the exemplified embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 3, the hinge arrangement 11 is provided at the end of the carrier arm 6 that is opposite to the holding device 23, while the hydraulic power pack 12 acts on the carrier arm 6 between the holding device 23 and the hinge arrangement 11, the distance between the hinge arrangement 11 and the hydraulic power pack 12 being such that little of the usable length of the vehicle is lost and the forces to be applied by the hydraulic power pack 12 do not become too high.
In the constructional form shown in Figure 4, the hydraulic power pack 12' is arranged at the end of the carrier arm 6 that is opposite to the holding device 23, while the hinge arrangement 11' is provided between the holding device 23 and the hydraulic power pack 12'. In this constructional form, the section 6' is bent to some extent between the hydraulic power pack 12' and the hinge arrangement 11' relative to the remaining length of the carrier arm 6. In the constructional form shown in Figures 1 to 3, stiffening members 17 are hinged to the upper end of each support 18 and to the lower end of the supporting members 16. In Figure 4, the members 17' act on the upper ends of the supporting members 16' and on the lower ends of the supports 18'.
As can be seen in Figure 3, the end section 7 of the carrier arm 6 is displaceable relative to the transverse shaft 36 of the hinge arrangement 11 by means of a hydraulic cylinder 27, the end section 7 being pivotable about a shaft 24 which is vertical to the hinge shaft. Furthermore, the carrier arm 6 is rotatable relative to the hydraulic power pack shaft 26, which can be brought about in a simple manner in that the piston is rotatable in the cylinder 13. In addition, the end section 8 is fitted to the transverse rod 34 of the holding device 23 in such a way that it can be pivoted about a shaft 25 which is vertical to the articulated shaft 10.
How this swivelling can be individually effected is shown in Figures 5 and 6. On the transverse rod 34 there is seated a stirrup 28, to which the rod of a hydraulic power pack 29 is hinged. The cylinder of this power pack is hinged to a nose 33 on the carrier arm end 8. It is possible to swivel the holding device 23 around the articulated shaft 10 by means of this unit. Furthermore, there is hinged to a lug 30, which is fixed on the transverse rod, the rod of a piston whose cylinder 31 carries a gripper arm 32, which acts on the frontal end of the end section 8 of the carrier arm 6. The carrier arm 6 can be swivelled around the pivot 25 by means of this unit.
The various possibilities, provided in the appropriate co-ordination, of swivelling the carrier arm relative to the hinge arrangement 11 and the holding device 23 also allow garages 5 to be loaded when the vehicle 1 is in a position relative to the garage 5 to be lifted in which, for example, the longitudinal centres of the garage 5 and the vehicle 1 are not aligned, as can be seen in Figure 3.
Another variant allowing appropriate rotary movements to be performed consists in that the hinge arrangement 11 and the hydraulic power pack 12 are arranged on a rotary mechanism which is longitudinally displaceable on the vehicle.
In the constructional form shown in Figures 1 to 3, the reception of the garage is effected in such a way that a tractive force is exerted by the cylinder 13 on the piston rod 14, causing the carrier arm 6 to be swivelled around the hinge arrangement 11 for the lifting of the garage 5. The horizontal position of the garage 5 is maintained by the fact that the holding device 23 can rotate appropriately around the articulated shaft 10 and, as has been described earlier, this rotation can also be performed by positive control. When the garage 5 has been lifted to the desired height, the lifting unit is moved in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and the garage 5 is deposited on the chassis 3, this deposited position being shown in Figure 1.
In the constructional form shown in Figure 4, a pressure force has to be exerted on the piston rod 14 for the lifting of the carrier arm 6 when the garage is lifted.
The articulated connection 9 and the hinge arrangement 11, each of which comprises a swivel shaft transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, the former being rotatable relative to the shaft 26 and the latter relative to the shaft 24, may, of course, be designed as Cardan joints.
In the constructional form shown in Figure 4, the pivotability of the arm 6 is preferably brought about by a cylinder which corresponds to the hydraulic cylinder 27 and which acts on the hinge arrangement 11' and can shift this latter transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
