Abstract

1389226 Terminals US TERMINALS Inc 25 April 1973 19593/73 Heading H2E Hermetically sealed multi-conductor terminal comprises recessed annular base 1 with annular sleeve portion 5 surrounding each conductor pin 6, and one-piece rigid or elastomeric plastics moulding 7 filling gaps between sleeves and pins. Pins 6 bear shoulders 9, 10, knurled portions 14 within the sleeves and tapered portions 13 to retain the pins and to minimize relative expansion effects. Moulding 7 forms thin annular walls 8 outside sleeves 5, and collars 17, 18 at the extremes of the moulding, on pins 6. In the moulding a ring form, and within but separate a central circular form (Fig. 3, not shown) connect the separate pin-surrounding parts within the recess of the base. Alternative embodiments slow pins with undercut shoulders or with a roughened plain cylindrical portion within the sleeve between enlarged plain cylindrical parts. The wall of a housing, if made to incorporate one or more sleeves, may serve as the base.
