Abstract

1389196 Rotary distributors JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 19 May 1972 [12 June 1971] 27661/71 Heading H1N For use in diagnostic equipment for indicating faults in I.C. engines a distributor cap comprises an insulating body provided with an extra terminal connected to a conductor disposed in or on said body adjacent one of the usual terminals to form a capacitor having the body material as dielectric. As shown two blade connectors 16 and 17 are fitted within slots 14 and 15 moulded in the cap 11. Connector 16 forms a capacitor with the input terminal 12, while connector 17 is connected to one of the output terminals 13 via a megohm resistor 18. In another embodiment an annular conductor- (116, Fig. 2, not shown; 216, Fig. 3, not shown) surrounds the input terminal and blade connector tags extend from the body (Fig. 2), or a two-pin plug is built into the cap (226, 227, Figs. 3 and 4, not shown).
