Abstract

1389093 Induction coils SIEMENS AG 24 Oct 1972 [11 April 1972] 48951/72 Heading H5H Each end of an induction coil 1, Fig. 1, comprising a bent glass or quartz tube 2 containing metallic conductor 3 and having a cooling fluid 5 flowing therethrough, is sealed to a coil mounting portion 8 by means of an intermediate metal piece 7. Silicon rubber seals 11 and 15 insure vacuum-tight connection. The portion 8 also forms the high frequency lead and the metallic conductor which may comprise a plurality of copper or silver wires is soldered to the piece 7 at 9, 10. In Fig. 3, the seal 16 is expanded by a threaded bush 18 screwed into the bore of piece 7. Alternatively a sleeve nut may be used, Fig. 3 (not shown). The piece 7 may be of silver, copper or silver-plated brass. The end of tube 3 may be metallized and soldered into the intermediate piece.
