Abstract
1389028 Electro-erosion DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 16 Nov 1972 [22 Nov 1971] 54101/71 Heading B3V A spark-erosion tool includes a plurality of electrodes 2 maintained in a predetermined relationship relative to one another by a matrix 3 having a melting point lower than the boiling point of water so that the tips 4 of the electrodes 2 may be adjusted in position relative to a face 5 of the restraining means 3 which is adapted to be adjacent the workpiece, by the removal of a layer of matrix 3 by hot water. The electrodes 2 are secured to a copper base-plate 1 and mounted in a matrix 3 of Woods metal. When, during operation, the electrode tips 4 have eroded away, a layer of the matrix 3 is removed by a jet of hot water to expose a desired length of the electrodes 2.
