The commutating capacitor 17 is charged from a supply Un. Reactive power is fed to a threephase supply by means of a further inverter comprising thyristors 34 ... 39 via transformer 40. In Fig. 1 (not shown) diode 19 is reversed and connected in series with inductor 18. In Fig. 7 (not shown) the D.C. sides of bridge 7 ... 12 are connected to the supply U1 via auxiliary thyristors and inverse diodes.
