Abstract

138,888. Kingsbury, A. Jan. 15, 1918, [Convention date]. Lubricant conveyed by mechanical means; cooling lubricant.-On one or both sides of the shaft collar of a thrust-bearing for marine propeller shafts &c. is suspended a single bearing shoe 16 engaging the upper part of the collar 11 and capable of tilting on a spherical pivot 21. A casing 24 surrounding the collar has an opening 26 through which oil in a reservoir 13 has access to the collar, the oil being raised and circulated through the bearing. The reservoir contains a cooling-coil 31. At each side of the collar 11 the shaft is supported in journal bearings.
