Abstract
1388125 Radiators R C E PALLEMAERTS 6 March 1972 10317/72 Heading F4S Front and rear panels 10, 11 of a radiator (e.g. in a central heating system) are shaped to define between them a horizontal header 16 one end of which is set back from the side edge of the front panel 10 and has a plumbing connection (e.g. a threaded socket 21, 23) secured therein. The radiator shown is formed from sheet metal pressings shaped to provide waterway channels 12, 13 extending between upper and lower manifolds (only the upper manifold being shown). The set back end of the manifold enables the connection 21, 23 to be welded in position along weld lines 25, 26, 27, 28 by automatic welding at the same time as the panels are being welded together at their peripheral edge portions 17, 18. The manifold may be formed alternatively by deformations in both front and rear panels (Fig. 6) and/or it may at one end of the radiator comprise a fold in a single sheet forming both front and rear panels (Fig. 5). Adjacent header sections in a double-panel radiator (Fig. 4) may have a common plumbing connection.
