Abstract

1,066,630. Making heat exchangers. SENIOR ECONOMISERS Ltd. Nov. 22, 1965 [Nov. 20, 1964], No. 47356/64. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F4] A method of making an assembly of finned U-tubes connected by headers 7 and suitable for a heat exchanger comprises the steps of passing over parallel legs 1, 2 of the U-tubes one or more fins 6 having suitable apertures and associated spacing flanges; and hydraulically expanding the U-tubes to secure the fins in place. The fins may be made of mild steel castings or pressed from sheet and the spacers may be spigots (4, Fig. 5) integral with the fins or separate tubular spacers (5, Fig. 6).
