Abstract

1388083 Photographic silver halide materials and processing solutions KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd and HOKUETSU PAPER MILLS Ltd 7 March 1973 [8 March 1972 15 March 1972] 11122/73 Heading G2C Polymers which impart anti-static and antifoaming properties when incorporated in photographic silver halide elements and photographic processing solutions, have the formula where R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups, A and B are alkylene groups, hydroxymethylene groups, phenylene groups or direct bonds, X<SP>1</SP> and X<SP>2</SP> are anions and n is from 10 to 30. The polymers are incorporated in photographic elements as a separate non-light sensitive layer and are not present in the silver halide emulsion layer. The polymers may be present in prehardening, developing, stop, hardener, bleach and fix solutions for silver halide materials. In Examples polymers are prepared and some are incorporated in photographic developer and stopfixer solutions and some are coated on films.
