Abstract

1388051 Furniture combinations; screens HILLE INTERNATIONAL Ltd 19 May 1972 23635/72 Headings A4H and A4U [Also in Divisions El E2 and F2] Panels P1, P2, Fig.3, are connected edge-toedge, e.g. to form a screen, by a connector comprising a central elongate part 11 joined to panel P1 and end points 12, 12'joined to panel P2 by screws 9, 20, 20', 20" each part 11, 12, 12'comprising a central flat 14 and hollow edge ribs 15, screws 17 passing through ribs 15 of the end parts 12, 12'and being threaded into end portions 16 of the ribs 15 of central part 11 aligned therewith. The connector may be applied to the hinge connection of three panels see, Fig.8 (not shown), or to the connection of four panels Fig.13 (not shown). Each panel may comprise a rectangular wood frame 2, 3, Fig.1, enclosed within facing boards 4 of plywood or plastics, and polystyrene packing 10. The vertical edges of the panel include plastics strips (5, 5 ), Figs.2, 5, (not shown) and threaded inserts 6, 7, 8 aligned with holes in the connector parts for the reception of screws 20, 20', 20", 9. The panel has vertical apertured rails 50 secured thereto by screws (66), Fig.14 (not shown), screws (66) additionally securing a sound-absorbent fabric cover (65) which is also secured by a plug (67). The panel may include adjustable feet F, Fig.9 a wiring duct D, with a partition 29, socket 37, closing plate 36 and access apertures 26, 27, 26', 27 ' closeable by plugs 28. Wiring tubes (44), Fig. 10 (not shown) may be secured to the vertical edges of the panel. A book rest or shelf B, Fig. 12, and a table T may be attached to the panels by hooks 52 thereon engaging in the apertures in the rails 50, or by bolts, and may include a top panel and door (73), Fig.15, (not shown), which may be spring-actuated and hinged or sliding. The table may include a wiring aperture 56, a wiring tray 59 being mounted therebeneath.
