Abstract

1387664 Treating gases with discharges PLASMACHEM Inc 16 March 1972 [18 March 1971 (2)] 12221/72 Heading H5H [Also in Division C7] Elemental refractory metal is recovered from reducible compounds by feeding the compound entrained in a carrier gas, e.g. Ar, into a plasma generated by reactor 40, 42, reducing the compound in the plasma, e.g. with H 2 , and condensing the gaseous element on the edge 102 of a reciprocable cup 100. The reactor includes a water-cooled anode 44, water-cooled feed collar 46 and feed pipe 52.
