Abstract

1386298 Gas holders V STENGELIN 31 Aug 1972 [25 April 1972] 40353/72 Heading F4X In a gas storage device comprising a plurality of flexible containers 2 arranged one above the other within a frame structure 1 having corner uprights 9, a pressure plate 3 situated on top of the containers is supported for vertical movement within the frame structure by a cable arrangement provided on at least three sides of the plate 3, the arrangement serving to ensure horizontal guidance of the plate 3 without tilting. The flexible containers 2 are made of plastics material and are interconnected at their centres. The cable arrangement comprises a number of cables 5 each extending from one corner of the plate 3 downwardly over a lower roller 7, diagonally upwardly over an upper roller 8, and then back downwardly to be finally secured to an adjacent corner of the plate 3. Spacing plates 11 located at the corners 6 of the plate 3 project outwardly towards the inside edges (12, Fig. 3) of the corner uprights 9; the plates 11 may carry rollers (not shown). The plates 11 are provided with feet 14 which project downwardly below the pressure plate and support it, in its lowermost position, outside the periphery of the containers and thereby protect these from the load of the pressure plate 3 when they are empty. The frame structure 1 is provided with a cover 15 as protection against the weather.
