Abstract

1,203,385. Warehouse storage systems. B. C. BARTON & SON Ltd. 15 Jan., 1969 [20 Jan., 1968], No. 3144/68. Heading A4T. [Also in Division B8] In a storage system which comprises trays 3 Fig. 2, in a rack 1, each of the trays except the lowest one is provided with rams 13, so that by operation of the rams the stack of trays can be split into two parts, thus enabling the lower part to be moved out of the framework to provide access to the upper tray thereof. The trays have interengaging projections and recesses, 14, 15, Fig. 4, (not shown), which are adjustable. The trays are moved out of the rack on wheels 4 by a ram and pulley system, Fig. 7, located under the bottom tray. Limit switches control movements of the trays outwards and inwards. It is preferred to lift individually each of the trays in the stack above the tray to which access is required rather than to lift the whole stack by means of the bottom tray therein. Operation may be pneumatic rather than hydraulic and the trays may be moved other than by rams.
