1385640 Reciprocating pumps and motors ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 2 Oct 1973 [2 Oct 1972 7 July 1973] 46036/73 Heading F1A In a radial cylinder pump or motor comprising a cylinder block 5 rotatably mounted on a stationary pintle valve 4, forces acting on the pintle valve are compensated by pressure fields generated by grooves 25, 26 on each side of the inlet and outlet ports 19, 20, the pressure field 27, 28 adjacent the high-pressure port 20 varying in width circumferentially of the pintle valve. For pumps or motors in which the direction of rotation is reversible, the eccentricity of the track ring 11 is reversible, or the functions of the control ports 19, 20 are reversible, alternative groove and port arrangements are described, Figs. 3 to 15 (not shown), including grooves with stepped or diverging and converging spacing, e.g. sinusoidal curves, discontinuous grooves inter-connected by passages in the pintle, and straight grooves associated with a tapered or stepped high-pressure port.
