Abstract

1385334 Grippers SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AG 1 Feb 1972 [5 Feb 1971] 4629/72 Heading B8H [Also in Division D1] A gripping device for doffing yarn packages comprising an interrupted ring-like element for gripping the outer surface of a package core and drive means connected to the element to contract the ring to grip the core. As shown, Fig. 1, the device comprises interrupted-ring- like element 22 pivotally connected by pins 230, 240 to levers 23, 24 pivotally mounted on pins 231, 241. The interruption is maintained open by compression spring 25. To contract the element to grip a core a cam 31 is passed between levermounted rollers 232, 242 to move pins 230, 240 towards one another. Element 2 comprises flexible non-elastic portion 20, e.g. a strip spring, and elastic portion 20<SP>1</SP>, e.g. of plastics material or of rubber vulcanized to the strip spring. Arm 1 is raised by drive means to doff the package. In a second embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the element is formed from two C-shaped halves, one end of each half being pivotally connected to the levers and the other end being pivotally connected to a stationary housing. In a third embodiment, Fig. 4, the element comprises interrupted elastic gripping rings 28, 29 and interrupted non-elastic rings 28<SP>1</SP>, 29<SP>1</SP>. The rings are connected as indicated by lines A. Gear wheels are connected with ends 282, 292 and rotation of the gear wheels in the directions of arrows P1, P2 by means of racks ensures that ends 281, 282 and 291, 292 are moved towards one another.
