Abstract
1384215 Control of winding speed to maintain uniform tension SIEMENS AG 19 April 1973 [21 April 1972] 19207/73 Heading DID In a traversing filament winding machine a package 2 is driven by a motor 1. A first signal x a is derived from the peripheral speed of the package. A second signal is derived from this signal which represents the desired rotational speed of the package and is compared at 13 with a third signal representing the actual speed of the package, the difference being used to control the motor speed. The second signal is modified according to a signal derived either from the diameter of the package or the rotational speed of the package (which will be dependent on the diameter), this results in a more nearly constant filament speed by compensation from the winding helix angle. As shown the motor 1 is a d.c. machine with an electronic commutator 3 controlled from the difference forming device 13. The induced e.m.f. in the stator windings is used to form the third signal which is also amplified at 9 and used to modify the second signal. The amplifier 9 has an adjustable feedback 10 which may be non-linear.
