Abstract
1383973 Compound electrical vehicles H G HERBERT 6 Sept 1973 [6 Sept 1972] 41382/72 Heading B7H A composite vehicle comprising interlockable major and minor passenger vehicle units A and B, wherein each unit includes an I.C. or steam engine 2, 2a driving a generator 4, 4a and an electrical motor 10, 10a for driving the road wheels, in combination with a current equalizing device 8 for balancing the current generated in each unit to ensure equal speeds of the wheels of the different units. Each motor is a dynamotor and each unit carries a high output/short discharge period battery 6, 6a chargeable from the generator and dynamotor on over-run, and being capable of supplying bursts of power for acceleration or hill climbing. The units are coupled back-to-back and each unit has a gearbox.
