Abstract

1383545 Liquid heating boilers NIPPON GAKKI SEIZO KK 26 June 1972 [26 June 1971(3) 15 July 1971] 29756/72 Heading F4A A liquid heater comprises a boiler drum 1, an internal combustion chamber for a pressure jet burner and flue passageways 1a leading to an exhaust gas collector box 2 having a crosssectional area greater than that of the passageways; exhaust gases being able to expand as they move from the passageways to the box 2 subsequently contract again as they move through outlet pipe 5 then expand into adapter 6 which is provided for connection to, for example, a chimney, the changes in the speed of the gas producing a noise muffling effect. The box 2 is made of sheet metal such as steel and is lined with a heat insulating and sound absorbing material 3. In a further embodiment (Figs. 4-6, not shown) a pipe member is provided spaced around the outlet pipe to provide a labyrinthlike passage for the exhaust gases. In another embodiment (Figs. 7-9, not shown) the box 2 is constructed of cast metal and has thick uninsulated walls; a detachable cover-plate being provided and the box being releasably secured to the drum 1.
