1383033 Cathode-ray tubes ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 18 July 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 39169/72 Heading H1D In a vacuum discharge tube incorporating a semi-conductor element constituting a photocathode or secondary-electron emissive cathode -e.g. a television camera, image converter, or photomultiplier-the element is cooled by a thermoelectric device. In the image converter shown, having a phosphor screen 18 and a semi-conductor photocathode 20-e.g. of Si, GaInAs, or InAsP, doped on the surface facing the screen 18 with Cs or 0-the photocathode is supported by the annular thermoelectric device 26, which is preferably itself secured to a thermally conductive portion of the tube envelope.
