Abstract

1382811 Sleeve couplings POST OFFICE 7 Jan 1972 [11 Jan 1971] 1192/71 Heading H2E A crimping clip comprises an open-ended trough-shaped member (one half of which is shown in section in Fig. 3) with tangs 16, 18 being formed in at least its base. The trough has a liner 12, e.g. of tin-coated phosphor-bronze having a thickness of about half that of the base. Triangular tongues 9, 10 engage apertures in the liner to hold it in place. Tongues, e.g. 6 can be struck up from the base to form aperture 5, bridging strips 22, 23 electrically connecting the liner at each side of the aperture. Lips 8 are bent up as shown, and provide a resilient force on the wires when crimped to enhance connection. Other forms of the aperture are shown in Figs. 5 and 6 and Fig. 7 (not shown). In other embodiments, tangs may be provided on the base only at points over the lips 8, and at raised base sections at each end of the clip and may co-operate with tangs correspondingly placed on the walls (Fig. 9, not shown). Gaps may be left between the base of the liner and base of the trough, Figs. 12, 13 (not shown) to provide a resilient force on the wires to enhance connection.
