An electrical socket 2 for releasable connection to a terminal post 200 is made from a sheet metal blank e.g. brass and has a crimping part 3 formed with two pairs of arms, 6, 8 for connection to the core 10 and insulation 12 of a wire 100. The channel-shaped body part 4 has a base (18, Fig. 3, not shown) formed with an extension 19 folded back to form a platform 21, which has depending legs (23, 25, Fig. 3, not shown) which abut the base (18), and tabs 28, 30 are formed on the extension 19 which prevent outward movement of the walls 22 (20) of the channel part 4. The walls 22 (20) have ends 26, 24 bent in to define with platform 21 a space 14 offset from crimping part 3 to receive the post 200, and these ends 26, 24 are chamfered at 5. At the rear end of the body 4 tabs 34 (32) are formed from the walls 22 (20) which pass through a hole (35, Fig. 4, not shown) in the platform 21 and are clinched against the platform legs (25, 23). By rotation through 180 degrees a second terminal may be attached to the same post (Fig. 7, not shown). In a further embodiment (Figs. 8, 9, not shown) the extension (57) of the base (56) forms a platform (58) which is supported by tabs (70, 72) struck from the side walls, and the post may be passed through the holes (59) thus formed or, as before, through the space (54) between base and platform. The side walls may be welded together (Fig. 9) or folded over as previously (Fig. 10, not shown).
