Abstract

1382641 Automatic washers HARSCO CORP 7 Jan 1972 [20 Jan 1971] 782/72 Heading A4F An automatic window or other building surface washer, comprises a cleaning module 34, containing the cleaning components, which may be movably supported within a span frame 30 to allow lateral movement therein. Movement along a vertical track 29 is accomplished by a cable 21 attached to a roof unit 13 which is on rails 12. The cable 21 may carry the electrical supply to the module 34. The cleaning components comprise nozzles, within a spray hood 65, supplied with pressurized cleaning fluid. The nozzles are situated below a squeegee assembly 66 which is movable so as to engage a window, there being vacuum means associated with the squeegee assembly 66 to remove liquid residue. Low-pressure air from a compressor in the module 34 energizes a fluidic control system Fig. 7 (not shown) for sensing the position of the module 34 and then sequentially operating valves in a pneumatic control system Fig. 8 (not shown) for energizing in sequence the cleaning components. In a modification Figs. 9, 10 (not shown) squeegees are supported at the ends of a centrally pivoted shaft. The module 34 is not situated within a span frame but is provided with wheels on the module 34 which engage the track 29.
