1279033 Coating gaskets FEDERALMOGUL CORP 13 July 1970 [22 Oct 1969] 33962/70 Heading B2L [Also in Division F2] A flat gasket is mounted on a turntable 34, Fig. 4, over pins 38 and a bead 14 of elastomeric material (e.g. rubber or polyurethane) deposited by a nozzle 40 controlled by a solenoid valve 42 and limit switch 44. The switch is arranged to stop the flow of material at the completion of one or more revolutions of the turntable. The nozzle is thereafter retracted and the gasket removed for a curing or hardening stage for the bead material. Alternatively, a pantograph mechanism, Fig. 6, may be used to deposit the bead material on several gaskets 70 simultaneously by means of solenoid-valve controlled nozzles mounted on a beam 76 of the pantograph, the movements of which are controlled by a photoelectric sensing device 86 operating over a template 90. The beam 76 is mounted on a carriage 82 and motors effect transverse movement of the carriage along rails 84 and reciprocating movement of the beam 76 relative to the carriage.
