Abstract

1382514 Cooking apparatus COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'EQUIPEMENT MENAGER 19 Sept 1972 [9 Nov 1971] 43259/72 Heading A4D [Also in Division F4] A cooking assembly comprises a frame 5 having a border 6 for engaging a support 4, the frame movably mounting a cooking apparatus 1 carrying at least one heating device 2, e.g. a hot-plate or gas ring, so that the apparatus can occupy two rest positions relative to the frame, namely a working position, Fig. 2, in which a bearing surface offered by the apparatus to cooking utensils is at a level higher than the upper surface of border 6 and a retracted position, Fig. 1 (not shown), in which the apparatus is below said upper surface, the assembly having a cover 11 hinged to the rear of frame 5, the cover 11 in a closed position forming a substantially coplanar extension of said upper surface, the cover being linked to the cooking apparatus so that when the cover is hinged open the cooking apparatus is brought to the working position and when the cover is closed the apparatus 1 is returned to its retracted position. The cover 11 is pivoted via links 13 to apparatus 1 which is carried by links 7 pivoted to form parallelograms with frame 5 and apparatus 1. Opening of the cover 11 also causes operation of a device 10 to energize the heaters 2. One or more springs 17 counterbalance the apparatus 1. In a second embodiment, Figs. 3, 4, (not shown), the apparatus 1 is pivoted at one end to cover 11 by arcuate levers (20), the cover 11 being pivoted to the frame 5 which has pins (23) engaging in slots (22) in the apparatus 1 to support the other end thereof. A third embodiment, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown), generally similar to the second is, in addition, provided with spring-biased levers pivoted at their lower ends to the frame 5 and having wheels (33) at their other ends running on rails (34) on the underside of the apparatus 1. In a fourth embodiment, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) one end of the apparatus 1 is pivoted to the frame 5, and the other end is acted on by a compression spring (30) and is pivoted by pairs of levers (24), (25) to the cover 11 which is pivoted to the frame 5. The heating device or devices 2 may be electric and/or gas-powered.
