Abstract

1382341 Electro-photographic apparatus XEROX CORP 3 Jan 1972 [6 Jan 1971] 132/72 Heading G2H To prevent undesirable corona current electrical effects in photo-electrophoretic-copying electrode roller 1 is constructed with a photo-conductive layer 3, over-lying a transparent conductive layer 5, and an internal non-rotating shielded light 7, so that the photo-conductive layer becomes conducting only as it progressively enters lighted zone 9, 10. As a result the field between roller 1 and abutting electrode 13 is switched from a low to a high value at their interface. Preferably the photoconductive layer 3 is overlain by an insulating and opaque layer 4, which prevents stray light from affecting photo-electrophoretic composition 17.
