Abstract

1379467 Electro-photographic apparatus FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 25 July 1972 [26 July 1971] 34828/72 Heading G2N Apparatus for charging electro-photographic material comprising an insulating support and a photo-conductive insulating layer directly coiled thereon comprises a light source for rendering the layer conductive and first and second corona discharge means for successively charging the layer after the illumination stage with corona discharge ions of opposite polarity. As shown, the layer 11 may be illuminated by a lamp 38, Fig. 3 charged with a corona device 36 with the corona wire in longitudinal alignment with feed of the layer 11 in web form - and then charged with a device 31 placed across the layer and finally charged with a device identical to the first device 36. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4, both corona discharge devices 41, 43 are placed across the web feed.
