Abstract

1382286 Knitting-machines GOSCOTE ENG Ltd 30 Aug 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 43714/72 Heading D1C A weft yarn Y which is interlaced between spaced needles or groups of needles only is inserted by a wheel 5 having radially projecting nibs 7. The nibs have a V-shaped groove 8 for engaging the yarn, and pressing it below the plane of retracted needles. The wheel is driven by a gear 10 meshing with the needle stems of the dial or cylinder. As the needles approach an inserting station they adopt a 1 x 1 configuration. Alternate needles advance to tuck position and are then retracted to the miss position; intervening needles advancing to the tuck position after the yarn has been pressed below them by the nibs.
