Abstract

1381368 Mixing gases NIPPON KOKAN KK 19 Dec 1972 [22 Dec 1971] 58646/72 Heading B1C A method of rapidly mixing different kinds of gases, one kind of gas having a higher density being introduced into a cyclone-type gas mixing chamber 11 through a gas inlet pipe 12 or 22 in a tangential direction at an upper part of the chamber, a lighter gas being introduced into the chamber through a pipe 14 or 24 at a lower part of the chamber, also tangentially but in an opposite sense, the vertical distance between the pipes is 1.5-3.0 times the diameter of the upper pipe, the lighter gas is injected into the chamber at a velocity 1.15-20.00 times that of the denser gas and, the denser gas has a vortical flow at a swirling linear velocity 1.0-3.5 times the vertical velocity at which said gas gradually descends while spirally flowing. At the lower level there may be several pipes conveying lighter gases to the chamber, wherein their mean velocity only should be 1.15-20.00. times that of the denser gas.
