Abstract

1381254 Delivering sheets BURROUGHS CORP 1 Feb 1973 [27 July 1972] 5068/73 Heading B8R Apparatus for stacking documents, e.g. mail edgewise comprises transport means 10 to carry said documents edgewise in single file, a stacking plate 24, a kicker mechanism, e.g. a stepping motor 22 with kicker fingers 18 and sensor means e.g. photo-electric 30, 32 which sense the passage of the trailing edge of a document and energizes the kicker mechanism to move the trailing edge of the document sideways and then retract out of the way of the leading edge of the next document. The kicker mechanism may comprise a solenoid instead of the stepping motor.
