Abstract
1379569 Centrifugal strainer with clearing knife ESCHER WYSS Ltd 14 Dec 1971 [16 Dec 1970] 58123/71 Heading B1D A clearing knife 6 is mounted on a carrier 5 which is pivotable about an axis spaced from that of the drum in a rotatable member 4, and the pivoting of the carrier is limited so that rotation of member 4 moves the knife 6 towards and away from the drum wall without any significant variation in the cutting angle of the knife. In Figs. 1, 2 the carrier is secured to a shaft 10, pivoted in member 4 and connected to a rod 11 whose other end is constrained for limited rotational movement when member 4 is rotated by fluid motor 9. In Fig. 6 (not shown) rod 11 is omitted and carrier 5 connected directly to rotary parts (12"). In Fig. 5 (not shown) rod 11 is slidable in a pivotable part (12'). In Fig. 4 (not shown) rod 11 serves as the piston rod of the fluid motor (14) whose cylinder is capable of limited lateral movement. In addition to the radial movement, knife 6 could be moved axially of the drum by a second fluid motor.
