Abstract

The combined mixer centrifuge consists of a centrifuge drum, a mixer shaft concentrically mounted in the drum, and a means of feeding a liquid into the space between the shaft and the drum. The drum has a series of deflection interfaces mounted axially to the drum space and rotatable with the drum. A mixer-disc is mounted on the shaft, in a vertical plane to the shaft and between adjacent interfaces. The drum is mounted on bearings. The mixer shaft and the disc rotate in bearing mountings, relative to the drum and to the interfaces about the axis of rotation of the drum. The shaft is connected to a drive, which rotates slower than the shaft, effected by the fluid connection between the disc and the deflection interfaces. The rotation speed of the drum is also slower than that of the mixer shaft. The machine is partic. suitable for the extraction of solutions.
