Abstract

1347504 Mineral-mining cutter drums ANDERSON MAVOR Ltd 3 Sept 1971 [18 Sept 1970] 44560/70 Heading E1F To enable a mineral-mining cutter drum to cut a passage for itself when moved along its axis into a mineral seam and when moved at right angles to said axis through the seam, the construction of the drum involves a rotatable hub 1, a flange 2 secured on one end of the hub to extend radially outwards thereof, a cylindrical body 3 mounted on the flange to extend beyond the hub outwards of the flange when the drum is mounted on a driven shaft, picks 5 mounted on the outer free end of the body, one or more helices of picks 12 mounted on the inner wall of the body for cutting up mineral entering into the body as the drum is sump into a seam and directing such mineral to an aperture or apertures 4 in the flange and the body, and one or more pick-armed, radially extending flanges 9 embracing the hub and the body of the drum.
